Marriage in Exile

This last Sunday at LifePoint I preached on 1 Peter 3:1-7, which instructs Christians on the characteristics of a redeemed marriage. We saw a great response. There were 170 different people who filled out cards identifying different application points that they would tackle as “Next Steps.”

Here are a few results:

  • 26 men and 30 women said their response to the message would be to “apologize to my spouse for not honoring or respecting them”
  • 48 men said “I am going to pursue my wife more this week than last week.”
  • 61 women said “I am going to nurture my husband with a Christ-centered respect more this week than last.”
  • 42 women said “I am going to turn my focus from outward beauty to inward beauty.”
  • 43 men said “I am going to begin thinking more about my responsibilities in my marriage than my rights.”
  • 7 men said “I am a single man and I will prepare for marriage this week by fighting my selfishness.”
  • 63 women responded by saying “I will reflect this week on the fact that I am a daughter of God.”

Jesus redeems marriage by redeeming sinners. It’s awesome to be a part of this process, growing together as the church at LifePoint.
