Vision Sunday: This Weekend @ LifePoint

tbtcI am a couple of months into my 4th year as the Lead Pastor at LifePoint. The journey has been both massively humbling and tremendously exciting at the same time. Toward the end of last year I began to realize that 2014 was going to be a significant year for our church, as our leadership was praying through framing our annual goals. If I was to sum it up, I’d say 2014 is a year where an identity shift is taking place at LifePoint. The first major step in that shift is happening this Sunday–February 9–as we unveil the vision of To Be The Church.

We have gone through numerous changes and a great deal of transition in the last 3 years. It goes beyond the growth of our church numerically or financially, though we have seen both occur. There is a deeper level of growth and transition that has happened, things that can’t be quantified through simple numbers. Our church culture has shifted. Our DNA has been clarified. Our leadership has grown in health, and in many ways come to life. We have become a unified, healthy, and aligned church family. As these changes have taken place we have begun to develop the “muscle memory” in our church culture that is necessary to be a growing church. As LifePoint remains a growing church there will be a few constants:

1) The Bible will be preached every week
2) People will be getting saved through the gospel of Jesus
3) Constant change will continue

What needs to occur in the foreseeable future, particularly in 2014, is that the people associated with LifePoint Church need to become the people of LifePoint Church. It’s time for the church to get about the business of becoming the church. It’s time for LifePoint Church to transition from something many attend, many associate with, many admire, and of which many partake, into something many become. It’s time for our identity to shift from an organization numerous people interact with, consume from, and associate with occasionally or often, into something WE ARE.

This is a movement, a shift, a transition into:

We have been preparing, praying, and planning for years to get ready for our future. The movement to take hold of it begins this Sunday. An identity shift is about to occur. Get
ready. Come prepared. To Be The Church is here.
