“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Our Father, ‘hallowed be your name’. Please make your name Holy; it’s already great, but I need your help to see it as such. Lord, so often and so easily I lose perspective. I don’t go through my day conscious of the fact that you are high above everything else. I forget how completely and wonderfully “other” you are. As I go through my daily routine, burdens and troubles become bigger in my mind’s eye and your grandeur is eclipsed by them. So, God, I am asking you for a perspective adjustment.
Lord, become bigger! You are already as great as can be, but become bigger in my life; fix my focus that I may see you as you really are. By your grace, adjust my perspective so that I may see that you, my God in heaven, are perfectly holy. Glorify your name and help my heart to not be blinded to your goodness. Exalt your name and give my heart the capacity to see how wonderful you are. Lift up your name and remind me that nothing on this earth comes close to your love and mercy. May I not be blind; I want to see you and respond appropriately. ‘Hallowed by your name’.
- Pray that we would have daily perspective adjustments. Pray that difficult circumstances wouldn’t become blown out of proportion in our hearts and minds and cause us to forget that the God we live for is so much bigger than them.
- Pray that our unsaved friends and family in our community would have perspective adjustments.
- Pray that our church family would have continual perspective adjustments.
