Blessed Assurance

I’ve been singing Blessed Assurance this week by Fanny Crosby.  This one never gets old:

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

    Well I hope it is on today’s playlist in first service then. It has always been one of my favorites.

  2. Joseph says:

    Don’t leave out second service — see Blessed Assurance by 3rd Day— Jesus–the ultimate Christmas present for humanity.

  3. The message of this song–plus so many others that are in my memory bank—keep me going daily! Such encouragement to meditate on, these wonderful hymns. Oh that we could incorporate more of them in the Sunday Worship singing times.

  4. Brian Murch says:

    Andrew,
    As a child I remember my mother standing at the kitchen sink singing Blessed Assurance. She told me that this was also her mother’s favorite hymn. I would say your love for this hymn is generational. Dad
