Youth Camp: Unshakeable

Next week we have our youth camp (junior high and high school) here atLifePointChurch, and I’ve been recruited to preach at it.  It is going to be fun to re-visit the realm of youth ministry with 4 sermons next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights.  There’s nothing better than camp.  As a youth pastor, “camp time” was by far my favorite time of year.  The memories of lives changed, worlds destroyed and remade, and community transformation begin to flood my mind at the mention of that one little word: c-a-m-p.

Our youth ministry, REV, has invited me to speak on the theme “Unshakeable.”  My mind immediately jumped to the book of Proverbs when I first heard the theme.  Why?  Simply put, the only way to live a life that is “unshakeable” is by standing on a firm foundation.  The key to standing is…standing.  It doesn’t matter what foundation is in your proximity, if you’re not standing on it (i.e. two feet firmly planted), then it’s not going to do you much good.

My goal next week will be to help our students firmly plant on the foundation of God, His Word, and His community, with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone.  In the 4 sermons I’ll look at:

1) Who you are standing on…
2) Who you are standing with…
3) How you keep from falling…
4) Why standing matters…

The titles, passages, and main ideas are:

1) Get Life (Proverbs 1:1-7) “Getting life begins with worship of its Creator.”
2) The Truth about Idiots (Proverbs 1:8-19) “Following an idiot will make you one.”
3) Wisdom Calls Out (Proverbs 1:20-33 “Wisdom protects those who listen to it.”
4) The Breakdown (Proverbs 4:20-27) “No one can guard your heart but you.”

Pray for us this week and next.  We are currently looking at over 70 attending the camp, and we’re praying for many more sign-ups this weekend.  If you know a teenager within the vicinity—this is a week you don’t want them to miss!

I’m so excited to have our 3 kids going! Reluctantly, but they don’t have a choice! 🙂 I’d love prayer for our kids’ and for all of the kids going! We’re in the midst of some pretty serious teen stuff and their worlds need to be remade! Thanks for having such passion for them! I’ll be at home potty training two of our three babies and on my knees praying for CAMP!
